SACRAMENTO – The Sacramento Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire tonight at 5:20 p.m. at 220 Peralta Ave. The three engines companies, two truck companies, and command staff arrived and began knocking the flames down and searching for victims. Fire Fighters located two adults in the house that suffered burns and smoke inhalation and quickly removed them and began administering care. Both adults were transported to UC Davis Medical Center by Sacramento Fire Department Ambulances in critical condition.

Eight family members live in the single story home on Peralta Ave. A family member stated that most of the family was out to dinner and had just arrived home. She stated that she was in her bedroom with the door closed when she heard a loud sound. She opened the bedroom door and saw flames in the hallway and was able to grab the 19 month baby and run out. The family was still trying to account for one another as fire crews began showing up.

A Sacramento Fire Department Investigator is currently examining the home for any indications of the cause of the fire. The fire caused approximately $150,000 in damage to the home and contents. The American Red Cross will assist the six displaced family members with temporary housing. A Sacramento Fire Chaplain was also called to the scene to assist the family in their grieving.
