| SACRAMENTO – The Sacramento Fire Department is announcing the open enrollment for the Community Emergency Response Team Training (CERT). The classes will be taking place over three consecutive Saturday’s; April 1, April 8, and April 15.
CERT training promotes a partnering effort between emergency services and the people that they serve. The goal is for emergency personnel to train members of the neighborhoods, community organizations, or workplaces in basic response skills. CERT members are then integrated into the emergency response capability for their area. If a disastrous event overwhelms or delays the community’s professional emergency responders, CERT members can assist others by applying the basic response and organizational skills that they learn through training. These skills can help save and sustain lives following a disaster until help arrives. Some of the skills taught are: o Disaster Medical Operations o Light Search and Rescue o Team Organization o Disaster psychology Participation is free, all applicants are asked to sign up as soon as possible as space is limited. |
