SACRAMENTO – This morning the Sacramento Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 2415 E St. Engine Company Four arrived to the scene first and reported a two story, wood framed home that had heavy smoke pushing out of the front of it. In front of the house stood an elderly female wearing only her pajamas, holding her small dog. Her hair was scorched from narrowly escaping the flames that consumed her house. The fire companies called for additional equipment to control the fire, bringing the amount of fire units to two alarms.

Rachel Aldrette, 76, who lived in the residence with her son, stated she was taking out the trash when she noticed smoke coming out of her house. Her son had already left for work earlier in the morning and her dog came running out of the residence on its own. She stated that she and her family had occupied the mid-town home since 1955.

A Sacramento Fire Investigator has sifted through the remains and is unable to rule out electrical wiring as a cause of the fire. The loss of the two story home and the contents is estimated at $300,000. Rachel Aldrette was transported to a local hospital by a Sacramento Fire Department Paramedic Unit for her exposure to the flames.

The response from the Sacramento Fire Department included seven Fire Engines, five Truck Companies, two Medic Units, and five additional support and command staff, bringing the total number of Fire Fighters to 58.
