SACRAMENTO – The Sacramento Fire Department responded to multiple reports of a house fire located at 7615 River Ranch Wy. in the pocket area at 11:26 p.m. Fire companies responding immediately began reporting a large visible glow in the sky. As crews arrived they began working on controlling a fire that had already consumed the attic and roof of the two story 3,800 square foot brick house. A second and third alarm assignment were called for bringing fire resources from throughout the area. The flames from the home lit up the neighborhood bringing several neighbors out into the street to watch the fire fighters work on controlling the blaze. Neighbors reported that the residents had recently moved and the house has been up for sale. Fire Fighters searched the inside of the home and confirmed that nobody was inside. A Sacramento Fire Department Investigator is currently gathering statements and collecting any clues that will lead to the cause of the fire. There were no reported injuries to any residents in the area or to any fire fighters. The damage to the home is estimated at $250,000. The response from the Sacramento Fire Department included eight engine companies, four truck companies, two medic units and fourteen additional command and support staff. A mutual aid response from the Elk Grove Fire District included two engine companies and a battalion chief bringing the total number of fire fighters on scene to 80.
