| SACRAMENTO – At 6:58 p.m. an emergency 911 phone call was placed by a man suspended in the air 200 feet, dangling by his collapsed parachute wrapped around a tension cable attached to a 1,900 foot radio tower in Walnut Grove. Rescue crews from the Sacramento Fire Department, Elk Grove Fire Department, and Walnut Grove Fire Department have been working together to come up with a plan to rescue the trapped man.
At approximately 3 hours into the operation and evaluating four possible rescue solutions, crews have decided to send a Fire Fighter up the tension cable to make contact with the victim. He will be secured into a harness and then lowered to the ground to medical workers standing by. The Fire Fighter making the rescue, John Clark, is a 33 year old, six year veteran of the Sacramento Fire Department. He is operating with the crew of Rescue Company Six. |
