SACRAMENTO – The Sacramento Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire this morning in the Meadowview area in South Sacramento. Fire crews responding to the fire reported a large glow and embers shooting several hundred feet into the sky. When companies arrived, Fire Fighters found a man standing near the house with burn injuries and he stated that there was still a women inside the house. The body of the female was found by Fire Fighters inside of a bedroom.

The residence that caught fire was protected with security bars on all of the windows. A safety release latch that opens the security bars was triggered and the security bars to the bedroom were found in the open position. The body of the female was found inside of the same bedroom and it is still unknown why she didn’t make it out the window.

Sacramento Fire Department Investigators are continuing to look through the debris and remains of the home. The estimated loss to the house and contents is $250,000.
